Here is the formula for a splendid yet easy open-faced sandwich, pairing crunchy fresh cucumber with home-made or artisan bread. I make these frequently, for breakfast, lunch, or for a snack at any time.
Ingredients: Fresh cucumber, crusty whole-grain bread, butter, creme fraiche, smoked sea-salt
For each sandwich spread a slice of delicious artisan or home-baked bread with good butter. Top with a few cucumber slices, then a dollop of creme fraiche, and a few grains of coarse sea salt. It tastes like summer! (The creme fraiche can also be spread directly on top of the butter as seen in these photos.)
