I came back from Ireland with a cold, picked up on the plane, that turned into deep chest congestion and cough. I had been told of an herbal tea in Ireland called The Splendid Woman's tea, but couldn’t find it. It had mint and sage in it. That was my inspiration.
Looking for something warm, healing and tasty, I concocted the following tea. Basil, mint and sage leaves from my herb garden went into the teapot along with a bag of decaf Irish black tea.
I let this mixture sit in boiling water for about five minutes. Then I added some agave nectar for sweetness and strained the liquid into my cup. The result was a sweet, minty, herbal tea that tasted great and soothed my throat.
